Details
The National Brewery Centre Museum incorporates large elements of the original Bass Museum. Learn about the legendary Bass family and their role in the development of brewing. The museum also celebrates the social history of the development of brewing - the real life experiences and stories of the people who helped to build Burton's world renowned brewing reputation. Tours start with a holographic-style presentation of the history of brewing, then our experienced guides take visitors through each step of the brewing process and explain the fascinating role that the steam engines, Shire Horses and vintage vehicles on show played in the development of the industry. The William Worthington microbrewery brings the tour up to the present day - with the chance to sample some great local ales brewed on site!
Individual visitors have the opportunity to join a standard daily guided tour of The National Brewery Centre Museum - at no extra cost). Our experienced guides are knowledgeable and full of amusing facts and anecdotes that really bring the experience to life!
A number of specialist Group guided tours are also available by individual arrangement. One of the most popular is The Half Hogshead Tour - which not only offers a guided Museum Tour - but also allows you to find out why beer is the nation's favourite tipple as we enhance your beer appreciation skills with a full tasting session giving guidance on how beer is made, how best to taste it, and how it can be matched with a variety of food types freshly prepared on site by our expert culinary team. Individual visitors can also book into the Half Hogshead Tour on the second Saturday of each month - but need to book in advance.
