Details

Sited in the heart of the Nation with 30,000 maturing trees and over 360 memorials, it is a beautiful and lasting tribute, a place where we can look forward with hope, reflect on peoples’ lives, learn through powerful stories and remember a history of service and sacrifice.

The Arboretum is home to the iconic Armed Forces Memorial which commemorates those who have been killed on duty or as a result of terrorism from the end of the Second World War to the present day.

First opening to the public in 2001, the Arboretum now attracts around 300,000 visitors each year. Many visitors start their visit with The Act of Remembrance, including a Silence, which is observed daily in the Millennium Chapel at 11 O’clock. Guided walks of varying lengths take place daily. The Arboretum can also be explored by land train, which has disabled access and weather proof carriages.

Visiting groups of all kinds are welcome at the Arboretum, whether of military, social, wildlife or educational interest, groups of 10 or more can take advantage of a range of special group packages.

The National Memorial Arboretum is open daily from 9am to 5pm and admission is free, although donations are appreciated to help maintain the grounds.

The Visitor Centre includes a gift shop and Restaurant, which offers a wide selection of hot and cold meals, snacks and drinks throughout the day.
